News Well that was quick! Red Lobster closings

Who wouldn't want surf and turf. Bad business practices did them in. I heard they had this deal where they gave away shrimp or something and they never recovered financially from that.

People like you caused this. Haven't been in 3 years? What did you think would happen?

That's like saying "I love my teenaged daughter even though I haven't seen or spoken to her in 3 years because I've been busy traveling the world researching groundhogs and banging Boise dimes" only to find out she became an only fans model and stripper the day she turned 18.

My wife and kids don’t like sea food.

Saw this news the other day, then realized I had an old $50 gift card. Went last night for dinner, I see why they're closing. Portions are definitely smaller, and prices have definitely risen. $80 for the 3 of us without tip. Wouldn't go again, and there weren't many others there.

I'll miss it, I used to like going there for lunch with my buddy before we'd watch the fights on saturdays

Last time I went I couldn't believe the prices... But then again have you seen Fast Food prices lately I really do feel bad for people with families in this current economy regarding food.

Yeah, that's what I meant. You had to buy everything from an individual franchise. I'm sure a ton of restaurants would have loved to pick up a fridge, freezer, broiler, fryer, oven, etc.

But the whole shebang? Tables & chairs maybe, too? Nobody but someone who wants to turn around and sell all that off at a markup would be interested.
My uneducated sentiment about this is that they are interested in the high value added equipment like the very specialised kitchen items you mentioned. I could imagine that stuff like tables chairs counters etc will be let go of almost for free.

I wonder if these were sold in bankruptcy so creditors that had loaned money to a restaurant had to buy the contents at auction.
That s not how bankruptcy works. What you owe will be sold at firesale prices in order to satisfy the creditors quickly. Creditors will not be asked to accept repayment in kind.

I’ve got the warehouse space to deal with that kind of equipment and materials so I threw a 10k bid on my local RL auction just to see what I could make of it. It ended up closing at over 25k.

Just the interior furnishings alone would have cost 200k+ to have made.

They charge near premium prices for buffet line qaulity seafood. The biscuits are great the food is like Long John silver qaulity with a team house prices.

Speak for yourself. 11k for the entire contents of a red lobster sounds like a steal. I woulda bought all that shit and worried about what to do with it at a later date.

I bet you coulda tripled your money fast and easy.

In this case, Red Lobster should’ve been aborted
