By calling it an undesirable behavior and talking about convincing the person to reform, I am not trying to convince you to change your beliefs about it, I am merely answering the question you asked about how religion handles homosexuality. Again, I respect your beliefs and opinions on the matter, whatever they may be. In our own, non-religious societies, we have made laws in regard to what we, as a society, deem acceptable and unacceptable behaviors, such as theft, murder, speeding, banned substances, etc. Many times science and religion do answer the same questions, just in different ways. Again, thank you for your comments and question. It is things like that which stimulate our minds and keep us digging deeper and searching. I am thankful when we can have mature, intelligent conversation about controversial things, exchange ideas, and agree to disagree sometimes. I see you are an amateur fighter. Good luck in your training and I hope you do well in your fights!!
. I cannot speak for other religions, but Christianity treats homosexuality as an undesirable behavior (a sin), and responds to that by loving the person, but disapproving of the behavior. The ultimate goal for the Christian church would be to convince the person that the behavior is wrong and help them to reform, much as one would any other person with undesirable behavior, such as a thief or a liar or a promiscuous person. There have been thousands of people who have abandoned that lifestyle for a heterosexual one, but they just don't get in the limelight, because it goes against the notion that homosexuality is indeed a genetic predisposition. I suppose, with all the advances in genetic research, that we will find out soon enough (I believe that a gene predisposing one to alcoholism has already been discovered).
Mr. Carter, I know your post was directed at Pokeystotle, but I would like to respond to it. I am sending a message because the threat has already gotten off topic enough, lol. I appreciate your comments, and they got me thinking. Although I am well read on evolution/creationism, it has been some time since I have read anything, and keep in mind that I am an engineer and not an evolutionary biologist, lol. I believe homosexuality appears to be anti-Darwinian because it would seem that, over time, less desirable characteristics (those that do not promote procreation and survival of the fittest) would be diminished, and homosexuality seems today to be more prevalent than ever (if it is not, then it is at least in the public eye more). Of course that statement demands that you treat homosexuality as a genetic predisposition, as most homosexuals claim it is.
