Im sort of stuck at around 78-80 and think im fairly good at the game.
My problem is that I am quite willing to play people of lower levels, and every now and then I lose. This means I lose shitloads of rating - sometimes down to luck.lag or sometimes because the guy is just better than me but with a lower rating.
I see a lot of people who simply refuse to play anyone with a lower rating than them. This is the most effective way to achieve a high level as you can never lose rank. It is however, horribly boring as you get higher in level because the amount of people that you can play against without risking rating diminishes. I tried it for like 20 mins, got bored, then just played anyone.
My advice: dont give a shit about rating - just enjoy the game. My experience of playing players of rank 100 and above is that they are either using obscenely overpowered CAFS who can submit UFC fighters from full stamina, or they are genuinely excellent players who are v tough and will steamroller your face on the ground in a fairly dull, but effective manner. Best (most fun) fights I have are against the guys, who like me, dont seem to give a fuck about rating and just play a lot of games around 60-90 ranks.
