Video recorder?

Alot of times i'll see videos on youtube like this...





What exactly are these called that they use to record the games like this? And can I find them anywhere, like at a Wal Mart or Radio Shack?

I knew roughly how to do this, but with the quick research I just did it seems that you can hook a game console up to your PC. I need to figure out how to do this because that would be pretty awesome. The walmart has one for $30, but that sounds pretty cheap. Makes me feel like it has to suck...has a remote though.
