Reasons EA MMA will be a success.
First EA is making this game using the Fight Night Round 4 engine which is a great very highly detailed in-depth game, Everything about this game will be top notch.
Career mode will be sick, Fighter entrances will likely be there in some form, a great selection of music will be involved, One of the best things EA does is Arenas and atmospheres including the sounds and light and feel of a sporting event, expect everything to be very polished.
Now one thing I just noticed actually today with Round 4 is that you cannot add tattoos what so ever to a created boxer so I really hope this is something that is added to EA MMA, it is really needed but is not as bad a fuck up as no southpaw striking like in UFC IMO. Also there isn't really a whole lot of hair or gear to choose from, what there is there is great the create a boxer as a whole is done quite well.
The biggest thing that I think will help this game is the ability to upload photos of frontal and side views to make any possible fighter you can imagine come to life in the game while looking very authentic with some minor tweaking to get head shapes right, I really think that this feature will get alot of word of mouth gamers to buy EA MMA after they see some of the created UFC fighters so flawlessly on screen that their friends made as well as having the option to go online and download custom fighters that other people made, so that you don't even have to do the work if you don't want. I really hope this feature is in the game.
Can't wait to play it.

Sounds good. The no southpaw stance in UFC is annoying as hell.

I'm not worried about graphics and details like tattoos. I'm sure all of that will be first rate. They just have to get the gameplay right, which is no small task considering all that mma encompasses. I think the ufc game did overall a very good job in that department. The ufc game's major failures are in fighter setup. You can make a fighter that throws a head kick, or uses a thai clinch, but not both, which is retarded. And while I'm on the topic, the Thai clinch knees don't do nearly enough damage. I've thrown like 30 of them and barely moved the health bar. Good thing they don't have CroCop vs Gonzaga in classic fights, since Gonzaga can't throw a head kick in the game! Another thing that irritates me is how you can be in side control and get swept cartoonishly where the other guy lands in side control. And of course no southpaw option is ridiculous.

have you seen any of the created boxers from Fight Night 4? I downloaded a Holyfield, Paquiao, Rocky Balboa, Chuck Liddell all off of the in game EA servers which are all characters people made and uploaded and let me say man they are all really accurate because of the face modeling picture upload program the game uses. I love it man, as long as you can make a shit load of guys in EA MMA or download them then the possibilities will be endless and in the end you could easily have a much larger roster than the UFC game if you can get past the announcers calling the fighters by their nickname or even their last names if they are recognized by the game.

Muay Thai guys have a headkick, not as good as the kickboxing headkicks but guys like Gonzaga do have the headkick. But I agree that you should be able to do alot more with perhaps assigning the moves to the fighters. Not every kickboxer should be able to do superman punches either, I don't think I've ever seen Mirko or Liddell throw a superman punch.
I like how the movesets was totally customizable in the THQ Pride game,Something like that with a modern twist and a bit more variety would be epic.

But they're going to look like cartoons! That's why I can't play FNR4. I loved FNR3 but the whole series went backwards in my opinion and the characters looked WAY too cartoony.
I do want to see some gameplay footage soon but I think it will just confirm my above statements

Really you think they look cartoonish??? I think that the UFC guys look more cartoon than Fight Night, The shadows, light reflections everything in my opinion is a bit more realistic in Fight Night.
I'm not one of these guys that loves one of the games and hates the other like most seem to do cuz they are both awesome games, but I really think that fight night looks more realistic.

UFC game had some very good charecter models...and some not as good. But the real issue is how EA tackles gameplay. The fear they probably have is that if it's too complicated that nobody will be able to just pick up and play and will get frustrated to shit. On the other hand MMA has tons of different subtleties that us hardcore fans want in the game. Many of us here find the UFC controls to be too limited but the average person still struggled with it (think..how many online fights went to the ground and they guy didn't know what to do).
