Single player (or coop) is more of a tutorial mode, to help you understand how the game works.
L4D2 has new weapons, new aids, new melee weapons, new boss infected, new common infected, new events, new levels, new survivors, new ammo, new AI Director. The director has me stoked, because it can dynamically change the level based on how well the first set of survivors are doing. Everything from what power-ups you'll find, what types of boss zombies spawn, how many common infected spawn during events, the weather, if there's a tank or a witch, which paths are available throughout the level. It usually builds to accomodate the first set of survivors if they're doing poorly, but the second team gets to run through the same exact level as the first team did.. Who gets what side first goes back and forth throughout levels, so it helps even out the pros and cons that come along with it. Unless you play the game for every minute for the rest of your life, it's nearly impossible to play the same situation more than once.
