I like sneaking around in games like this and stealing/killing undetected, so hopefully it will get better.

Thanks for any help.
sneaking around during the later parts of the game is what keeps you alive. you can get alot of critical hits/strikes that will be 1 shot kills on alot of tough fucking enemies. dont carry around shit all the time. use a locker in various towns or your homebase to store shit and fast travel there when you want to retrieve them. also instead of wasting caps, just buy shit from the vendors and sell them weapons you have alot of or useless junk like cigarettes, pre war money, burned books etc.

i went with shit like repair, lock picking, intelligence, science, small guns, and speech. that way i could repair my own shit and stuff in the game that needed a high repair to get out of tough spots. lock picking is huge in the game get that shit maxed out.

if you get the operation anchorage dlc. you can get 2 very powerful items. the shocksword with a critical hit can turn enemies to ash in one hit. and the chinese stealth armor where if you crouch down, you turn invisible. if i had that shit early in the game i wouldve gotten through the game alot faster.

It was so long though. So much shit...you have to have alot of time on your hands if you want to get through everything in the game.
i put in at least 200 hours into this fucking game. alot of the time is spent searching shit in rooms.

Its a really big nice house and i have all the unique weapons out on display. I played this game alot, too much to where i got completly sick of it
i've managed to collect every single unique weapon. i accidentally repaired the power fist with the fisto weapon and its gone forever. i didnt realize it until i had saved over the older saves.

I finnished this game and my first impression afterwards was "is that it!??". I went primarily for the main storyline, but even so, it was quick. I was also never as impressed as other people seemingly were along the way. The story wasnt that good, the travelling was tedious, the setting was bleak and drab and it was too short. Whats the point in making a game with so many different stats/abilities/things to do, if the main story is so short?

Oblivion was alot better.

I have yet to find a vendor of any sort, so I am keeping a bunch of random stuff. The only town with any kind of civilization I have found is Big Town and there is no vendor.

I noticed in the inventory menu, some items have like a scrap metal pile that looks like it might symbolize the item is just or scrap, but I thought it also might mean it is raw materials for something. Anyone know? Am I just carrying useless garbage? Stuff like the cleaning ingredients you find on the ground, paint guns, and random cooking supplies like pots? All that junk?
scrap metal can be traded to people needing them in side missions that give you shit like weapons or stimpacks. cleaning materials and paintguns, vacuum parts, pots, etc are used to make homemade weapons once you learn how to do it. cartons of cigs have no use other than to trade to the vendor when you buy shit instead of giving them your caps.

the game gets finished if you get the broken steel dlc. killing so and so was a lame ending so bethesda had to make broken steel.

Ok, I have a pretty big problem with carrying shit around

I still haven't really found a homebase yet. Do I just rent a room somewhere? Pretty much the only towns I have been in is Megaton and Big Town, so do I need to go somewhere else? I feel like finding a place to store shit is important. I never pickup the burned books, figured they were worthless.

I have the game of the year edition, so I am pretty sure I got all the DLC free with it. I don't know enough about the game to really understand what all that entails at this point though really.

What weapon/armour do people like?
make sure you arm yourself with shit you're willing to lose entering the pitt. the dlc sometimes glitches and you dont get shit back thats taken from you.

do operation anchorage before anything else so you can get the stealth armor that turns you invisible to everybody except for when you shoot your gun or bump into them. which is why i use the shocksword that you can get from this dlc too. and sneak around killing everybody in sneak mode.

I have given up hope of making stuff at this point, so I started dumping out stuff like paint guns and cleaners. I might regret it later, but I needed the room, so I dumped them in the police dept. Hopefully they wont vanish if I ever need them again. Thanks for helping me out, it is a lot to take in at first.

Is there a way around having to trust Moriarty? I turned it off there last time because he was pissing me off haha. He seems like a liar and I don't want to give him what little money I do have.

you dont really need a homebase. but places will be given to you to stay at when you complete certain missions. you can store your shit in anyplace like a locker or box in any town and it'll be there all the time. unless the place gets destroyed or you get locked out of that area because of a mission. or you can just drop shit in the middle of megaton near the 2 headed cow and leave it there. it'll be there all the time. i used to just pile a ton of shit there for the hell of it just to see how much shit i could pile there. then i just stored it in lockers and crates in places so it was in order and easy to retrieve instead of having to pick shit up one by one.

if you have the game of the year edition then you might not have to worry about pitt glitches since i played the shit in download form saved to my hd.
