IMO The logic there is non-existent. Comparing a boxing game(a sport in decline) and a UFC licensed MMA released just as the Sport is catching on like a wildfire. The sales of undisputed reflect the new popularity of the sport not the quality of the game. EA Sports MMA will ride that same wave of mma popularity.

Unidisputed sold millions of copies, and I bet plenty of people just saw a fighting game and bought it. Not everyone bases their choice of game on characters alone. Plus, the CAF feature will be spectacular.

In FNR4, I made Joe Louis, Andrei Arlovski, and Prince Naseem Hamed. They look almost perfect.

EA is a much bigger name than the UFC.

I think this game will do very well, and in doing so, alot of people will become more educated about the sport (eg UFC does not = MMA). Dana and co must be shitting cos if this game does turn out to be a success then it will boost the popularity of all their competition.

I can guarantee that when people see Fedor Emelianenko with the highest ratings in the game, they will believe he is the best MMA fighter, look up his fights on youtube, and become fans.

I think that will happen with alot of fighters on this game, and will be good for the non UFC orgs. People will learn about the fighters they are using, look up their old fights etc, and probably start watching StrikeForce on CBS or wateva.

Having Bas Rutten in the game will help too, as he is already very popular

Ea won't tank. UFC was first to enter the market and of course, there should be expected retaliation by competitors. In this case, EA's MMA game. UFC already has a major stake in this particular genre, but it's easy for EA to take up market share b/c of brand recognition. And so, the dance begins. Each generation will have to outdo the previous to sustain or improve their shares, which will benefit true MMA fans.

Question truly is, will EA's MMA game be profitable enough for EA to continue this line? Their expectation and overhead are different. What yields great numbers for THQ would be a loss for EA. Sorta of like Spike vs network channels.

I don't think it will tank, it won't do as well as UFC, but it will still sell. They should have gotten it out before Christmas, than it would sell.

As for comparing FN to this, boxing is a dying sport, and it's obvious when even the games don't sell

if the game play is better than UFC undisputed i doubt it will tank. However, I think the core market will be kids who only really watch the UFC, so maybe it wont do well at first.

everyone said the same shit about EA skate too, and look what that did, tony hawk had to develop a skateboard to try and make it interesting again.
