Why do people not like Akiyama?

I know about the greasing scandal, it was much the same as the GSP greasing scandal and I am aware of a similar incident back in his judo days but nothing was proven on that occasion.

All these events seem like a lifetime ago and he has racked up an impressive record since then and I do not of any allegations of greasing in those fights but you cannot argue you with the numbers. I am pretty confident he will defeat Belcher at UFC 100 but does anyone else have any thoughts on this maybe there is something im missing.

I know this must be the millionth and one thread about Akiyama but I was just curious about this.

The whole thing was a huge stink at the time and somethings die hard. For me, I was pissed that he beat Sakuraba's ass while he's yelling at the ref about the grease. Akiyama admitted that he had "Lotion" on but not grease. There is no fine line, you just can't lubricate yourself before a fight. In most sports the evils of cheating don't involve someone else being beat senseless and especially not the lovable Sakuraba.

As for the glove who knows, sounds crazy but so does the lotion thing...

wellllllll.... His name is akiyama, get that one? Also the general consensus is that he is extremely good looking (sexy maybe?). So you take Akiyama and mix it with sexy and you have... wait for it.... Sexyama!

He is also a massive celebrity...
