-- Hockey question on '15 Questions for GSP' --

hey guys,
I just read the Interview on the front page '15 questions for GSP' and when asked

Sherdog: Do you follow any other sports outside of combat sports?
St. Pierre: I do follow a little bit of hockey, ice hockey. I like the Canadians and the Edmonton Oilers; they are my favorite.

I myself being from Edmonton and being a die hard fan was very surprised and pleased to hear this.

My question is why does GSP have love for the Oilers?

I like the oilers and i dont really care for any other hockey teams and it is odd to hear someone like a team that they dont live in. Know what i mean??

I was hoping you guys can give me some insight.
Or if GSP is reading this then that would be great.

Thanks

TTT

i have a feeling nobody will know the answer to this,
so I would like to ask that anybody that reads this that might end up interviewing GSP in the future to add this simple question to their list.

Thanks,

I used to love Oilers before, because they had few good Finnish players like Kurri, Ruotsalainen and of course Tiki Tikkanen

Oilers have always played an exciting brand of fast paced hockey. Perhaps he became a huge Souray fan at some point?

Whatever the reason, my grip on George's nuts just became a little bit tighter

GSP is just the right age to have nostalgia for the City of Champions era.

the oilers have arguably iced the best team in hockey history. When you consider guys like Wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier, Jari Kurri, Paul Coffey, Adam Graves, Grant Fuhr, Andy Moog... list goes on, then you have to think that's why he liked them. The Oilers dominated hockey in the 80's at the time when hockey was most exciting.

Wayne! A lot of people are still Oiler fans from the glory days. They suck now and they always will because nobody wants to live and play there, but back in the day they were awesome. Same goes for Kings fans, leftovers from the Gretzky days, I know, I'm one of them!

He grew up in the glory days of the oilers and probably loved cheering for a Canadian team that was winning.
