Yesterday in Miami , Florida.... Moacir "Boca" Oliveira was promoted to 3rd degree black belt by his teacher Master Ricardo De La Riva. "Hes like a son to me ..... he has always been here to represent my style of Jiu Jitsu , one of the most loyal students I have . " Said De la Riva before handing "Boca" his diploma certifying his promotion.
"When I was a blue belt in De La Riva's school in Brazil back in 1994 , I remember staring at a certificate that Carlson Gracie gave to De La Riva promoting him to 4th degree, It's been 15 years since then and hes at 5th degree. Sure he could have his red black belt by now or red white belt or what ever belt , but belts dont give you Your Jiu Jitsu ."
