Your teeth and fighting

Well did not know what forum to put it so I thouht maybe fighters would have the best input. I went to dentist recently and had a root canal and will have to get a crown soon, he recommended getting a gold crown but warned me that eventually my tooth will probably break eventually if i take shots to the tooth..

So does any know if they had any issues with sparring.. fighting while having a crown in there mouth?? Any input would be appreciated.. Now im hesitant to do some sparring thinking my tooth is just going to come right off.

Just a suggestion , maybe you should ask in the Standup Technique forum too . You might get an answer to your problem , with the number of guys training there is chance someone might know .

I had a molar explode from a tight guillotine one time, thats the only problems I have had with my teeth......knock on wood. I have crowns as well and they have given me no problems so far.

The only real problems you'd have with crowns (if you mean the crowns with a post) is that it would come off and get lost. That's expensive. However, with a mouthguard in it shouldn't go anywhere. It will probably come loose and have to be reglued, depending on which tooth it is.

i also have braces.. try to use a mouthpiece that protects your teeth on top and at the bottom.. usually the brackets are the ones that cut your lips.. i first experienced that when my sparmate guillotine choked me but he did not sink it to my neck instead it went to my lips pushing it against my braces.. its hurt but not too much..

Go to a good dentist and have him do a custom mouthguard for you like pro fighters have. It will be the best for your teeth. They are super strong, easy to breath with (just like your normal teeth), and will do a great job of protecting your mouth.
