I got REALLY nervous when I knew my bout was next. But once the fight started, the adrenaline pretty much quashed it.

There were three fights where I was close to completely gassing and it seemed like the guys I was fighting weren't even close to being tired. I was nervous the first two times (my two losses) and the third time I realized I just needed to stop being a pussy and do what I was trained to do.

Can't speak for myself but my cousin says he sometimes gasses just from nerves on making the entrance! He says it only happens when he got tons of family there watching him fight. When no one is there he says he's himself again.

What pisses me off the most is that when this kid is sparring (full contact) he has flashes where he looks like freakin Shogun. When he gets in the ring for an official fight he's slow, moves like a zombie with his head still and guard up, doesn't throw jabs, doesn't throw leg kicks and telegraphs all his punches. Its so damn frustrating.

My emotions before the fight is like a rollercoaster, One second i'm really nervous and on the verge of scared, The other second i'm really pumped up and want to KILL my opponent.

When i'm in a fight i have to say its when i really tag my opponent hard and he doesn't flinch, wtfmoment ^^

This is exactly my problem.

Not once have a fought a fight like I train in the gym. I do 30 mins rounds in sparring, but in a fight I'm gassed after throwing one combo. My last fight I pretty much just froze up and threw barely anything.

While sparring I can easily match/"beat" fights with much more fight experience then me, even though I've only had 3 fights.

It not only frustrates me but also my coach, because he knows that I got the potential there, I just can't use it

When you start getting tired its like oh shit time to regroup and use the energy wisely and if i get rocked its kinda like son of a bitch time to circle around until i get my wits about me again if im not in trouble and im not gassed im goin balls to the wall, hmm maybe thats why i end up getting gassed?

but if i haven't gotten that nervous rush when i'm putting my gloves on,
i get it when i stare accross into my partner's face.

question for the fighters in this thread:
i tend to use my nervous energy well,
would you say all fighters get nervous?
do you think most of them use it?
can you think of any fighters who noticeably use nervous energy?

Vitor? Fedor? Manhoef?

and do you think Minowa ever gets nervous? XD
I think BJ penn uses his nervous energy very very well. His entrances are always very emotional and when he fought florian the look in his eyes walking to the cage was a mix of nervous energy and that of a serial killer ready to attack.

As for myself I dont dread the fight or even get too wound up. I just get really quiet and distant from everyone around. Once its time to get my hands wrapped I get a bit antsy. once I start to hit pads I remember why I love doing this.
