Walking away...*long read

If I hadn't, I probably would have taken a beat down from the guy. But still,

I was driving around in my brother's neighborhood in South Austin, when I saw an older guy of about 50 standing in his front yard with a garage sale set up. Out of nowhere, some gangsta foo' of about 20 walks up, and just pushes this guy down, and starts kicking his shit around in his yard. There's already a few cars that have pulled over, but no ones doing anything to stop this guy. Everyones just watching.

So, I stop my car, and get out. I'm like 15 feet away when he see's me walking up. Almost instantly, he forgets about the old man, and now he's coming at me.

Now, don't get me wrong. Usually, I would have just pollywhomped this dumbass and sent him running back to the 'hood, but I already have a pending assault charge to worry about.

So, he starts walking up to me, and takes off his shirt like he's going to fight me. The first thing I notice is that he looks like he outweighs me by about 60 pounds, and is covered in prison tats. But at this point, there's no turning back. He starts telling me that he's a "headbusta" and that I "don't know who I'm messing with". You know, all that tough-guy shit. He's kinda slow, and I could probably box circles around him, but he's still a scary looking guy.

Then he says something like, "You're in the wrong neighborhood fuckin' white boy", and that's what sets me off. I grew up on this street, and I'll be damned if some wannabe-gangster peice of shit is going to tell me that I'm in the wrong neighborhood. Now we're just yelling at eachother, but no one makes a move. Like I said, I'm already in trouble with the law, and I'm not about to fight anyone unless it's self-defense. I'm turning to walk away, going back towards my car, when he says something like, "I know more about boxing in one hand"...

"And then, at at our most excellent moment together..." the squad cars pull up, and he goes running into what I guess was his house across the street. If they were seconds later, it would have been bad.

Anyways, what would you guys have done in this situation? I didn't want to fight him, but everyone that was around there refused to get out of their cars and help the old guy.

Sig bet record 0-1

I think you handled the situation perfectly.

Confronted the dude, tried to calm him down... If he would swing on you then give him a nap...

Try to defuse the situation and use fighting as a last resort in a perfect world.

But I probably would have done the same thing that you did.

fine

You cannot win in that situation fighting. Did fine. You distracted enough for the cops, and guess what? more prison tats to come for him. What he did will get him convicted again, especially with his record im sure. Best way to beat someones ass like that, is to let the system beat him in jail when he gets jumped by 20 others and looses even more of his short lived life locked up.

It is hard for someone to say what they would really do in a situation like that, there are a lot of variables that come to play.

However, I do know, that I would not have posted this thread which could be nominated as the most pointless thing I have ever had the misfortune of reading.

The ignorant and stereotypical side of me wants to say this is a troll job. Mainly on account of if you were actually raised in an area where people are getting beat up repeatedly enough for others to shrug it off and just watch, you probably are not as literate as you have just demonstrated.

In conclusion, you are either a troll artist of reputable caliber, or the most literate meathead I have ever met. Here comes the yellow card.

I think you did the right thing man, had he come at you I'm sure you could have put him to sleep but you kept a cool head and he is going to get sent back to prison now and you can walk away without being cuffed.

I wouldn't have started a fight, criminal record or not. You never know when someone's carrying heat or one of their buddies is just up the street.

You did what you should have done.

just like when i go out to the bars or when people find out that ive fought 2 guys in the UFC and 1 in the WEC, they all wanna be Tommy Toughnuts and one up me, so I pound the shit out of them. Prolly will bite me in the ass one day, but until then....im gonna enjoy my drink and do what i do, but if some fool starts stuff with me ill take the "low" road and show him why he shouldnt have.

I think you shoulda put the guy in his place, but my moral standards you did the correct thing. good job
