Running pain on side of leg above ankles?

Sorry for putting this in two places but I bet I could get some more accurate answers on this forum. Well sometimes when I run I get this horrible pain on the side of my shin area above my ankles. There are these big bumps there too. I went to the doctor and he just gave me these instep things for my shoes but they haven't helped a whole lot.

Here are some pics-

Anyone know what this is or how to make it go away? I have had these bumps for a long time. I'm going to the docs again on the 24th for my shoulder but Ill bring this up. The thing is last time I went to a foot doctor and he didn't really help.

yeah actually someone at my gym has them right above the instep of his feet, on both sides. They are growths according to him, he said he needs surgery to get rid of them, i think it goes along the lines of his legs grew to fast for his bones to catch up? im not sure though

Probably just AIDS, I wouldn't worry about it.

Looking at the pic it looks like a bite or something. Kind of strange.

I dont think this is the same..but I had a pain on that area years ago, no bumps though, it was like that for months then it just went away. An instructor told me things to do, I couldnt remember all, but one of them was hot compression...sorry if this didnt help lol

If your running outside on the street or another hard surface try using a treadmill with good cushioning or maybe an eliptical machine for your cardio. It will be a lot less strain on your bones.

You've got really nasty shin splints. It hurts like a son of a bitch but it's probably nothing serious. I've had them like that before. The bump is just irritation and fluid collecting. A heating pad/compress on them will help.

maybe you need to get your feet properly measured and get new running shoes every 350-500miles or 6months. I usually had pains on the front of my shins and huge lumps (although my lumps where from primarily working on ladders all the time)
