How hard is it to live off of being a fighter/instructor at your gym?

well, i used to make around $50 a week from that, depending on how many students come in. but i get to train for free every day. i also sold cigarettes, hoes, and had a bartender certification, so it's enough to survive...

I know a guy who is an independent boxing trainer. He does teach at Steve Molitors old club twice a week. But he does one on one sessions with all the boxers/mma fighters around town at my weight lifting gym too. He charges cash up front $20 for 30 minutes and $31.50 for an hour. He's always training someone. His schedule is busy. He's hard to get so he must make a pretty decent living.

Hey,

In Thailand, you can find a gym that will train you free (not easy, but possible). They usually have free accomodation, also. Alternate accomodation is inexpensive if you live in the sticks. Sometimes food is free, too.

I train free, but have a cheap, personal flat, and also buy my own food.

I've a bit of savings from the Infantry, but the deal with me is fight twice a month and it's a sustainable income.

Fighting twice a month, maybe you'll get 10,000 THB a month. If you live like a lower class Thai, that small money is enough. Maybe it is not luxury pay, but it is a good experience and you always have the chance of making the big time and getting some decent money with this full time long term training.
