And as I said, I was training all MMA for a bit with guys around here who are fighting and thin some BJJ and MT would do me great. Again, my question is, does anyone train just for sheer enjoyment?
Yeah mate, until recently I was just training for the excercise and the enjoyment of martial arts.

Only recently decided to give it a go in the ring to test myself... lose and I may find myself back to training for fun

You'll find that there are people that have been doing this a long time, and their shins feel like concrete. Just VERY light contact with your shin and theirs makes you feel like you walked outside and kicked a pole. On the other end, they didn't even feel it.

I would have to say the most painful thing was when I went to thigh kick my opp. and istead of hitting my shin to his shin (because he blocked whith his shin) I landed my foot. My foot swelled up and was very sore for about a month.

Props man. I just find it gives me a little different perspective on the whole show. I really appreciate what these guys do outside the cage, as much as inside. Where I can slack on my training, professionals can't. Anyway, good luck bro!!

Yeah, my shins are pretty calloused. Not too much bothers them. The only thing that hurts me is when I misjudge distance and land a kick with my foot or toes. Especially on a knee or elbow.

Probably the worst injury I've caused was i broke a guy's collar bone with a hammer fist from his guard. He tapped immediately.

Of course it hurts, take a look at Crocop vs Wandy 2. Crocop shattered his ankle kicking Wandy's block off then had surgery to repair it if I remember correctly.
