Broke someones foot with my elbow when he threw a side kick.
Looked painful.
I tore a ham string when someone had me in a leg lock - that was fun!
My all time favorite was a ruptured disc in my back - months of pills for pain.

Actually, you're not far from the truth. I used to fight, now I coach a team. When I start working with kids on stand up (kick boxing) I tell them buy a 1/2 inch wooden dowel at the hardware store. Three times per week, spend thiry minutes smacking each shin. Start lightly, and, over the course of a couple of months, smack harder and harder. It builds scar tissue and calcifies the shins so that kicks don't hurt nearly as much.

For the first year, there's nothing you can do about it...get used to your shins being sore.

My guys mostly complain about (if you can believe it)...matt burns on the top of their feet from single and double legs being executed without wrestling shoes on. Our ground training mixes BJJ and wrestling in the same session (sometimes)...so they get matt burns.

I STREET FIGHT regularly.

Human bodies handz are easy to break when bashing the sh%t out of someone's head without gloves.

In my sparring and training (Karate, Judo, BJJ), I think my knees do the most damage.

When your shin hits soft tissue like a thigh it don't hurt. When shins and bones collide at full force it hurts. But when your fighting or sparring you feel the pain but keep going.

Yeah big time mate, you kick a hip or elbow and it can hurt like shit.

Having your kicks checked can hurt and even punching someone can hurt your hand.

Haven't really had many cases of hurtin my knees...

knee to knee collision hurts like a bitch, so does a leg kick, if it s checked and you hit the guy in the shin. thats why you train thoguh so after a while you get used to it.

Anyone here train just to get a different perspective on the sport? I'm old and have no intentions on competing. I've trained MMA a very minimal amount. I really want to get some straight BJJ and MT training. I wrestled awhile in HS as well as Boxing, so I have a grip on that. And as I said, I was training all MMA for a bit with guys around here who are fighting and thin some BJJ and MT would do me great. Again, my question is, does anyone train just for sheer enjoyment?
