I would think that if ammy isn't available then it would mean that a lot of people in that area that want to fight will be going straight to pro before they are really ready to really be a "professional" because a lot of people don't won't to travel if they aren't getting paid(or in some cases even if they are). This logic might only be because I'm really tired and I get hit in the head a lot, so go check out some local fights and see how you match up the the fighters in your weight class.

My friend wants to fight amateur soon and is currently traing in south carolina. Is there any events near that area like florida or any where up in the northeast. Anywhere would be a help thanks.

Has anyone had problems fighting someone in your own weight class? Last fight I fought in (amateur), I went into the fight at 170, the guy I fought was 185. I was curious if this is pretty much the norm?
I walk around at 175, cut to 170, then fought a guy who walks around at 205 and cut to 185. (I talked to him after the fight)
I realize it's amateur and sometimes they don't have enough people or whatever, but I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

Hey Bankai00 check it out take any fight you can get and dont let someones size scare you off look at it this way if you can take someone bigger then you then people your size you shouldnt have a prob with!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Im completely new at the sport. Im 19 going on 20 have experience in Wing Chun a kung
fu style and in Taekwondo. Thats about it. I've been in ahtelete all my life but this past year I havent really been training. So I want to get back in shape and pursue MMA. Where can I go to start out? I live in Los Angeles, CA I heard legends gym is a good place but it doesnt strike me as a serious place to learn the sport and actually get fights as an amateur. Correct me if Im wrong but, it just like a fitness gym.
