To everyone asking how to find fights- go to http://www.iscfmma.com. They have a database you can register in to be ranked and so promoters can find you. They research fighter's backgrounds before the fightcard gets approved to try and keep pros fighting as amateurs to a minimum, and there is a list of events that are sanctioned by the iscf all over the country and you can get in contact with promoters through that to find fights in your area.

Just a reminder the ISCF Event in Moberly MO is Saturday. There will be 20 or so fights in the brand new 24' cage. The website( www.mid-mo-mma.com) is also greatly improved over the last several weeks. Next event will be in June. Hope to have at least one sherdogger on the card. Any volunters?

If my shoulder is healed in time for me to get in fighting shape again, I'll be in for this one. I kinda doubt I'll be ready to go though. I have surgery on Monday, then 3 weeks of not lifting anything, after that I slowly get to start working my way back up to full strength.

nevermind.

Some people start fighting as pros. I know a few people that somehow got offered by promoters to get paid to fight their first time. After that happens you can't go back to being an ammy. Other people start as pros cuz in their state ammy fighting is illegal and they don't want to travel.

yea, i realize that. i just figured that was general, common knowledge among fighters, you know? evidently i was mistaken. i think it works the same way in the boxing circuit, too. if i'm not wrong, i think once you even accept money for, say, a toughman-style event, you're done as an amateur.
