Mouth Guard Preference?

I have a fight coming up on April 26th.
Ive only had two fights and I'm still on the fence on what kind of mouth guard I should use.
I have one that molds just on the top teeth and one the molds on top and bottom.
Any preference? Which is better?

i like the one that just convers your top teeth. You should have your mouth closed at all times anyway.

I prefer the ones that just cover my top teeth. I had issues with not being able to get enough air when I used a dual guard.

The dual guard is cool in training because it restricts your air flow, similar to Wanderlei snorkle. Come fight time switch to the top only mouth piece and you will see a noticeable improvement in your wind.

PS. The double guard makes you drool a lot though.

Top and bottom for me heres why...

With a single when you bite down you cant breathe through your mouth since your bottom teeth touch the gumshield. With a double you can chew bit there still a set passage to breath. I converted a long time ago and I will NEVER EVER use a single ever again... More reasons is that doubles push your bottom jaw slightly forward to prevent you breaking your jaw and getting ko'd as easy. You cant bite your tong which I did a couple of times with a single. And it protects your lips and cheeks from cutting by covering all your teeth not just the top.

You cant talk for shit wearing it in practice tho... and you salavate alot more to start with cuz your mouth aint used to it.

I highly reccomend a double tho. Best choice I ever made.

For training I use top only. for sparring and fights I use a double (top and bottom). just because I think it adds more protection..and lastly...the top and bottom full mouthguard usually has a little slot which gives you more breathing room when in tight quarters and what not.

Top only is more confortable in my opinion, but make sure you keep your jaw closed tight no matter how tired you get. An open mouth will make you easier to knock out.

I usually prefer the single but after I read this I have to say that a double guard sounds more effective. I think I might use a double now. Thanks

Yeh man I aint talking out my ass on that. Try the test yourself. Use a double for a few sparring sessions then go back to a single, you feel so vulnerable it's horrible. But like I said you can't talk for shit lol
