Jiujitsu Blackbelt Is Only The Beginning?

Question for some people with experience in Jiujitsu, I talked with my buddy about how much I wanted to get to black belt, that is my goal. The proof that I accomplished something. He made an off comment about how a jiujitsu black belt was only the beginning? Something about how getting a blackbelt can be viewed as the start of your real training?

Does anyone know what he meant by this? Ive always viewed the blackbelt as the end the top recognition, what would you be working towards above this?

Well he might mean you get to work your way through your dans my mate is if im right a 4th dan but he got gave his last one because he had been a 3rd dan for so long.

He might also mean you can move onto BJJ judo using the skills picked up in jujitsu theers always more you can do.

Im quite gutted i never graded but the assosciation iw as in was the most fucked up one ive come across they gave blackbelts away.

Im injured and fat now :p but if i did get my jujitsu blackbelt id have prob tried for a black belt in kickboxing or BJJ its all about constintly improving yourself why stop if you love martial arts you'l always have another level to reach.

That's how the black belt is perceived in many arts. Now you know what you need to begin your proper martial arts training.

A lot of black belts say this, claiming that when they were promoted to black they realized there was still so much to learn and reaching that level simply provided the skills to learn things they previously could not have absorbed.
