I used to get chronic swimmers ear from well swimming. I used to do the same thing, and once I perforated my ear drum as well. I had a hole in it for about six months, and could notice the whistling. They kept giving me the run around as well until I was sent to three different ENT doctors. I ended up getting a patch put on and it finally healed. Get yourself to an ENT, and have them run a pressure test on you. If it is not healing on its own then you need to have it fixed. Do not get water, oils, drops, or anything into your ear until you see the doc. You will not notice any real change to your eq until you do something super active. I actually vomited on my grappling partner. I recommend not fighting or doing anything active until you get that checked. Hope that helped. If you want to know how mine was fixed and what to do PM me. I went through the same run around.

Thats sounds like a hell of a thing to happen to you. Hopefully all that goes well. You may want to lay off on anything that could permanently damage your health and put your ability to fight in danger.

Yeah you really do have to take time off, this is NOT something to dick around with. Myself and 3 friends got jumped by 13 guys a little over a year and a half ago and my eardrum got busted and i bled from the ear for four friggin days. My hearing is fine, I have tinnitus, and every now and then in training ill lose hearing when pressure is put on my ear a certain way, but thats it. If the ear gets infected you can definitely go deaf, heed the docs advice, they go to school for like....a decade and stuff.

"Yeah I know...they're called doctors"
Love that movie

sorry but i almost died laughing when i read how you popped your eardrum. ha ha.
but on the serious, i had my eardrum popped in a street fight a couple years ago. and as im sure you know, having a popped eardrum sucks a fat one. you may have done yourself worse than i did, because you might have damaged something in your inner ear, on top of rupturing the eardrum.
first of all, if you have insurance, you need to get a referral to see a ENT (ear nose and throat) doctor. on top of damage to the inner ear, you might have problems with your sinus/ naval cavity, since they all connect behind your face. he should do a visual examination, and possibly an xray and/or mri, so he can figure out for sure if you caused any more damage than rupturing the eardrum.
and frankly, you should not be training with contact or fighting until it either heals or scars over. if you get hit on that ear and it traps the air through, you could end up with some serious life changing damage. a friend of mine got shot in the head and it went through his ear (but missed his brain entirely) and he had to learn to walk all over again cause he lost the ability to balance himself.
plus theres the very real possibility of it getting infected. also be careful about getting water in it in the shower. and as far as head sparring or fighting goes, i'd be real careful if i was you and think real hard about it going from bad to worse.
but on a positive note, my ear is fine now. i get popped in it all the time. ha ha.

They couldnt tell weather i have smashed the bones in my middle ear because of the blood but im pretty much deaf on my right side.
my equalibrium (sp) is ok , my balance feels a little off but not to the degree that it should prevent me from getting around freely, it just feels weird when i move my head.
apparently untill the ear drum grows back i am at serious risk of infection, and if my middle ear gets infected it can go into my brain and cause brain damage.
i am worried that this may affect my ability to train for the next few months, as the ear drum takes about three months to grow back and i am going to have my third pro fight in august.
i have asked two different doctors and they have just given me the run aorund saying that i should avoid doing anything untill its properly healed, but neither of them really understood what the fuck i was talking about when i was trying to explain what it was i do as far as training and fighting goes.
so you guys are my last resort....if anyone has had any expirience with or knows anything about burst ear drums or any inner ear injuries for that matter and could shed some light on my situation i would be very grateful.

Damn. That had to hurt. I had my ear drum ruptured when I got tubes in them when I was a little kid. Thankfully I don't remember it and my hearing is fine. Hope you get better.
