I would not do anything until that is healed. If you don't let the middle part of your ear heal then you could loose a lot of your motor skills forever. This part of your ear is the reason for sea sickness and causes the lack of motor coordination. I hope everything works out.

wow that really does stink... i would say to go to an ear specialist and to take care of that so that you get no infections... infections in the ear are really bad but worst comes to worse i say you take the time off to train even harder

How sure are these doctors that your ear drum will grow back? I busted a hole in my eardrum from waterskiing and that was horrible. I went to an ear nose and throat specialist and he gave me some eardrops for infections and said to wait if it would grow back. It didn't. I then had surgery (tympanoplasty) to cover it up, and even that didn't work. It was a horrible recovery. My advice to you is to baby that ear, don't train for a while then get back into it with real light stuff. Oh ya and pray, thats a brutal accident. Hope you heal up dude. Oh ya and were any of the docs you saw ENT (ear nose throat) specialists? If not you should def go see one!

This happened to a follow teacher at my school I don't understand how people slip cleaning their ears. Anyway his hearing isn't suppose to come back as easily as you're putting it. I'm half deaf myself from an ear infection as a kid. Don't train, the pain from middle ear infections are horrible. Just take some time off work on technique lift but don't spar would be my advice

i blew my middle ear drum bones out when i was jumpin some pretty high bluffs, my right ear gots about 10% hearing until i get another surgery, ive had 4 already..most to clean it cus it kept getting infected, my equalibrium is fine accept when i go under water i get so fucked up, i do everything accept swim... u should be fine just tell ur sparring partners to watch ur right ear..u can run workout everything but just do light sparring.. o and ask the doctor for those iso/vinegar drops.. keeps it from getting infected, put them in at night

coz my ear was bleeding so much i took myself off to emergency, but aside from giving me some painkillers and anti biotics the doctor who saw me couldnt really tell me much, only that now i have no ear drum to speak of in my right ear. They couldnt tell weather i have smashed the bones in my middle ear because of the blood but im pretty much deaf on my right side.
my equalibrium (sp) is ok , my balance feels a little off but not to the degree that it should prevent me from getting around freely, it just feels weird when i move my head.

apparently untill the ear drum grows back i am at serious risk of infection, and if my middle ear gets infected it can go into my brain and cause brain damage.
i am worried that this may affect my ability to train for the next few months, as the ear drum takes about three months to grow back and i am going to have my third pro fight in august.

i have asked two different doctors and they have just given me the run aorund saying that i should avoid doing anything untill its properly healed, but neither of them really understood what the fuck i was talking about when i was trying to explain what it was i do as far as training and fighting goes.

so you guys are my last resort....if anyone has had any expirience with or knows anything about burst ear drums or any inner ear injuries for that matter and could shed some light on my situation i would be very grateful.

damn dude that sucks ass. i dont know a lot about it but i do know my buddy has major problems with his ear drum. i guess he blew it a few times when he was younger [ or maybe it was just once ] but now he cant swim, can barely hear out of it hurts him to even blow his nose. my only advise would be to make sure its healed before you get back to scrappin full time. with any injury u need to let them heal or risk permanent damage. i retired from pro hockey cuz my back blew out when i was younger and i never got it fixed. i kept gettin injections to relieve the nerves and now i have the back of an 89 year old man [ according to my surgeon ] so ya just take it easy and get it better. ofcourse you wanna fight but just look at it like this.
fight and risk permanent damage, which would prolly mean ur done fighting or
let it heal, miss this fight and never have to worry about it again.
should be an easy choice but best of luck

I'm no expert but, for whatever it's worth, I would agree with oyaji poi and say that you should let it heal for a few months. Even though it's a shitty setback, it sounds like a giant gamble to try to train through it.

Best of luck, I hope things work out well for you.

Yeah, I would take the time off, mainly cause Matt Hamill already fucked up your chances of being the first deaf fighter...so may as well not risk it. lol

Speedy recovery

No real advice, though it seems like laying low is a good idea, but I wish you a speedy and full recovery.
