I had my first amateur boxing match about three weeks after joining a local gym. It was more that the event was already scheduled and they needed to fill out the card tho.

I was 17 at the time and was against a 36 year old. He was handling me pretty well at first but he gassed after about a minute and I won in the end.

I think everyone should fight or atleast train hard once in their life.......you really find out a lot about yourself and how you are as a person...in the gym you sweat and get hit....in the cage/ring you sweat and get hit even if you're a killer fighter....even if you dont want to fight for a living...trying out the training or actual fighting can change who you are as a person for sure....I was always tenative about doing anything when I was a teen and was extremely cautious about trying anything new....training and fighting opened up a tonnnnnn of mental doors I had...I'll try anything now.....unless it'll kill me of course

QFT. When someone tells me some 'mainstream' exercise will be tough I just chuckle a little inside.....There's nothing doing like full scale conditioning and cardio till you want to die, then having your coach yell 'gloves and shinpads' and point at you and say 'inside the cage now!'

Hard sparring with continuous fresh partners after sprints, tyre flips, sledgehammers, box jumps, burpees etc is murder......fun fun murder! For me it answered the little voice in my head about whether I could do it and has helped me coach others better
