How do you perform one properly?

Thanks guys
If you know how what your doing it can be very deadly.

It can be used on fresh opponents. I usually use after a combination or if my opponent attempts a takedown or gets over;y agressive.

It's fairly easy to get out if you know what your doing. But if the person applying it has proper technique you may as well make peace with God.

Both hands at the bottom of the skull where it rounds off. Never interlock your fingers. One hand over the other. Keep your elbows in tight, pull down on the head and let the knees go.

so next time don't panic and go on the defense......bodylock get the guy to the ground. then pound away. that mt guy will let go in no time.

Having your forearms pushed into the other guy gives you awesome leverage and makes it very difficult for him to get to your hips, get double unders, etc. If you keep chasing it, you're just going to get pulled along and kneed.

Just watch Anderson Silva vs Franklin 1 and Wanderlei vs Rampage to see the level of pain that an educated MT clinch can bring. Kneese from thin position are very hard to block and even if you do they can generate enough momentum on them useing the clinch that after 1-2 your arms will be quite sore.
SO... i am a black belt in Muay Thai and have some Kruangs in BJJ

haha

The Thai clinch is a bitch...i mean that's fairly obvious right?!
Like the more experienced guys said of course it is less damaging with two guys with equal MT skills but that is BECAUSE they dont ever let someone get the FULL clinch like Rich F. had done to him the first time. They will fight like a dog to keep out of it BUT make no mistake once in it even a well trained MT fighter is going to have problems..that is obvious too if you watch a lot of MT fights..mostly the less experienced or begginners though...

so is it that hard to get out of a clinch?
Who would of though clasing your forearms an elbows together and holding the crown area you have a tight hold on your opponent.

Im like everyone else inexperience. Looks like its easy to get out of like just yanking your head back or moving back.

what it is, is basically your forarms are on the neck/colar bone of your opponent. the grip is fairly important, as proper MT grip enables you to control your opponents position with the movement of your hand.

to attain the proper grip, hold your hand our, palm facing you, then take your other hand, and wrap it around the wrist of the hand(palm) facing you. the grip needs to be a thumbless grip.

since your palm hand is open, you can roll it inside or out, to swicth to your other hand showing its palm, and the other hand gripping. this helps move your oponnent from side to side to enable maximum leverage and power with knees.

another grip that can be used effectivley is to just cross your fingers. but this doesnt help you with your side to side movement to allow knees from the side as good as the other grip.

to get out of it...

posture up, meaning you need to have your hips infront of your head. then if you want to strike, punch to the head, elbow to the head, if in a street fight, eye gouge(sp?), head but etc.

also you can throw your hand over top of their clinch to break their hold but this allows their knees to work more effectivley as you are now stretching out your ab muscles.
Don't grab the neck, grab the back of the head, the neck is too hard to control.

What's to stop a guy who's in the clinch from throwing some nicely timed elbows to the top of the thigh that's bringing the knee?
