If u got some1 who doesnt train in a muay thai clinch and knee'd them they would fall straight to the floor!

good MT Fighters know if u have a good clinch on them!

get some1 to practice on u, but beware it burns ur ears lol

True about burning ears and sore neck. Ive never fought MT, but I do train and some of the actual fighters like to do MT grappling with me because they say Im "big and strong". I like to apply downward pressure on the shoulders while pressing my forearms real tight on the sides of the neck and keep them off balance by shoving em around. I have also not taken direct knee strikes but I hold a pad while in the clich and absorb knees and just think how much it would suck if I dropped the pad and took one.

The fancy punch through escapes sometimes don't work fast enough to avoid the knee. A tight clinch can only be avoided by a well timed escape such as a bodylock. Failing that a cross face push can control the opponent somewhat and the kneeing is somewhat even. I always wanted to try a judo style drop/hip throw.

It takes timing. Chin to the chest takedowns work great and some Muay Thai circles are working to ban them due to spinal injuries.

There's probably some awesome mystique surrounding the Clinch, because most of the strikers in MMA have trained American Kickboxing, which has watered down techniques and doesn't feature near the same depth as clinchwork in Thailand.

With two evenly matched opponents, no one should be getting murdered in the clinch. Believe me, when I saw Rich Franklin get kneed to hell, I was laughing, because he was obviously clueless to clinch techniques. I'm not saying Anderson Silva is a chump, I'm saying for the full 20 seconds where Rich was attempting some sort of counter, he was going about it completely wrong. For a world champion to neglect such a crucial aspect on his training, knowing he was going against a Thai specialist, is hilarious.

Watch any competitive stadium fight.

You'll rarely see the full double-plum ala Franklin or Vanderlei, but what you do see are transitions from single over to cross tie, counters, recounters and an array of elbows, short knees, round knees and long knees.

I think its an effective tool if you understand wrestling too.
If you are strictly Muy Tai you will get countered

from what I know, if you're caught in the clinch don't ever step back but close the distance immediately and try to sneak on hand between your opponent's hands grabbing his neck, then slide the other in, now grab hands at the back of his neck, now it's your turn...
keep your elbows together if your putting someone in the clinch to avoid this counter, but if performed swiftly and strongly there's not much that can be done...

dropping down or putting your head down like that is a good way to get kneed in the face on the way to dropping to your knee. Breaking the clinch is even my simple then that. all you have to do is put 1 or 2 hands on their chin and push their head back.
