just actually got PRK done on my eyes 6 days ago. i cant really see much yet. im still struggling with typing. however, i chose PRK due to the fact lasik cuts your eyes like he was saying where PRK only burns them and you dont have to worry about the flap of skin tearing
it post me 2400, however 300 gets paid back from my medical and then about 670 comes back from taxes taken off, so all together not bad for me.
ill create a new thread in about 6 weeks when im back to mma training!

Yes, it's true. I have worn contacts for the last 5 months or so. I'm not saying it won't happen, it just didn't for me. I have been knocked down in sparring where I couldn't get up for 30 seconds or so, and was surprised the contacts didn't fly out, because I have seen it/knocked others' lenses out.BTW, I noticed with contacts my zoom speed is slower.

Legally blind is defined as being worse than 20/200 or having less than a 20 degree visual field in the better seeing eye while wearing correction.
You probably aren't even close to these parameters.

I prefer to leave them out cause i have had them knocked out and go like above my eye and shit like that before. Then again it depends on just how bad your vision is. If your not gonna be able to see a punch coming i'd leave them in.

I had a mate who boxed for a couple of years, he only had one or two bouts but he did use them in his training and for his fights...I still don't know how he managed to pull of any wins because they don't even make contacts strong enough for his eyes and he's colour blind..

As someone who has had firsthand experience sparring without any corrective lenses (and needing them), it isn't an enjoyable exercise. You can't react nearly as precisely nor follow the subtle changes in movement and body language. Sparring with them in is preferable to not, but still isn't a great choice. I've been caught with surprise shots that shifted the contact just enough that it really fucked up my vision. lol
Best choice, despite the price, is getting the laser surgery.
