Will be doing research on this as I'm hoping to eventually get this kinda thing done, but a big worry of mine was the effect on sparring and stuff etc... Any stories from people who have had it done? (LASIK or this PRK stuff).

Didn't Karo have a contact problem in his fight with Diego? I think I remember him taking one out in round 2 or 3. And I know Anthony Johnson had a contact coming out problem at UFC76 in his fight with Clementi.

when i had contacts, every time i sparred in muay thai, whenever i took a shot to the head, or even moved my head quickly, one would shift and i would have to stop for a second...it sucked royally. After a while i just took them out (i can see basic shapes lol)
then i got lasik, and its amazing...had to take a few weeks off, but it was so worth it to not have to deal with contacts anymore

Interesting question, but as I have read it all depends on your ability to see your opponent, if not use them (or lasik surgery), if see them without good for you don't need them!
 Loved your AV!

I had 5 amateur fights with no contacts, and 1 with. Not much difference, except I couldn't see across the ring before, but fighting distance was fine. Current contacts are -6.00 and -5.50. So far I haven't lost contact from hard punch, but I have been poked in the eye causing it to slide under the upper lid, which was hard to take out. I actually think contacts slowed my reflexes a bit, but I can see the beginning of the move, so it evens out.
