My gym is good though. The fight is going to be in the same gym that i belong to so it should be pretty easy. There is a ring there and of course i know everyone so it works.
Instead of beating this anymore to death im going to PM you Hody and Brent to get hopefully get a coulpe more questions answered.
I'm gonna respond here cause someone else might have similar questions.

The spats r simply tights, or compression shorts, the type u might wear under your GI or wear biking....minus the padding in the ass and crotch. Doesn't matter the brand, so long as they r blue or red. I think some companies like Hunter have them in blue or red. In all honesty, I don't know if they would accept those or not...meaning, spat with huge ass logos and labels all over them. It would be best to ask someone at your gym. The majority of guys wear simple all red or blue spats or the BodyMaker reversible ones.

The cloth shin guards are the leg warmer types that I see some Karate guys wear BUT not the Century foam dip ones on the point tournament scene. These look like big ass socks with a an opening in the heel and extend just below the knee and a bit past your ankle bone. The padding is contained within this big ass sock and is maybe less than a 1/4" thick. Again, brand is not important, and as far as I know, neither is the color. I've only seen them in white or black...but I assume there might be other colors. From what I remember, u cannot wear the Muay Thai style shin guards that velcro on -- the ones that Fairtex sells. Use those for your gym training but in amateur Shooto, u have to wear the leg warmer type.

The best thing to do is simply bring what u plan on wearing to the gym and ask the guys if it would be approved for amateur Shooto. On the day of the event, some coaches have to work as Shooto officials and might treat u like everyone else. IE...I checked in and my former coach was working the equipment check area. He asked my name, weight class, and to look at my gear. I was like..."what the hell? U know me". But he told me "today I am not your coach, today I am Shooto official." Funny...he still looked like my coach.

Hope this helps.

Hody

Yeah it helps a lot, thanks. I was already wondering if my coach would be working the event since it will also be at his gym. I guess you answered that for me as well.
Looks like have some shopping to do since all i train in is sprawls, rash guards, twins velcro shin guards though lol oh well.

** Sorry for stealing your thread Enson but thank you everyone for the help**

Just met Enson this past Saturday night in Tokyo, hell of a guy, very friendly, very humble. Nothing to do with anything really, just thought I'd post.

Okay guys...just a small update. On Sept.16th I will be doing an exhibition fight in a new event called Mudou Spirit. I will be doing 1 round 5 minutes full sparring with one of my students from my Kyoto gym. No pro wrestling shit real sparring with Pride gloves. I'm a consistent 98 kilograms which calculates to 215 lbs. I'm getting paid a good sized garentee so I'll be going pretty hard. Still 10 more days so I'll be getting in a little bit better shape.
