Do most amateur orgs test for HIV, Hep, etc?

I think I'd only be willing to fight for an org that does that type of testing.

Side question, if they do this type of testing, do they also do drug testing?

Lol... unless you're both all bloodied up the chance of it transferring would be very slim.

I can't recall a fight where both of the guys were all bloody, I remember seeing a broken nose and a cut on the forehead but I don't see how it'd transfer.

If the blood gets in your eye, can't that transfer the disease?

I've seen small amounts of blood stop a fight for amateurs.

There is a high risk of getting HIV if you fight a HIV-positive opponent. It often gets bloodied in there, so every org should test.

cause that should make people feel better. And all you need is a small abrasion for it to transfer, so if the one guy is bleeding and you have scrapes or mat burn, you're at risk.

I've fought 3 times, and every time since last year they make you get a full test .HIV, HEP A and B as well as ECG. That's for Muay Thai. I also needed a Dr. to check me make sure that can move my neck, shoulder etc properly (no serious previous injury that can still affect me).
In Alberta for MMA I think you also need a 1 time CAT scan, just in case you get really messed up they have something for comparison.

It's a bit of a joke though, you get tested once a year. So if I get tested in May, go and fuck around all summer, I'm still good for the next 10 months. A lot can happen in year.

Also, just about anyone can start a commission here now, if you have the money. The last one I fought on nobody even asked for the papers. I had them, and was good to go, but never needed to prove it. Though it's a small area and maybe they "knew" me from previous fights.

Yes. I know for a fact that they require a physical. The physical includes bloodwrok. They must provide the paperwork before fight day.
