Considering moving to 135.Seeking Advice
I dont know much at all about weight cutting.
Do they do it all in one day? i walk around at 155 when im training and eating a ton. when i dont have a fight, im 150-152 because im not so crazy about my diet and eat 3-4 times a day instead of 6-7 times.
I'm considering moving down to 135. Is this a reasonable decision? I'm looking for advice on this move and on weight cutting.
I know there are a ton of threads out there on this subject, But i thought id get better advice making a thread.
for me, the day of weigh ins ill sit in the sauna with a garbage bag on and a hoody with sweat pants and get out, towel off and check weight. and repeat till im 145.
ive had succes , never missed weight in 5 pro fights, but i have a feeling im missing out on something.
Also, i have heard getting an IV with salene is good for after a hard cut. I have complete access for that (friends with a hospital staff member)
The main reason Ive been thinking this is because of the recent WEC events on tv. I look more like the 135ers than the 145ers.I'm exact same size as chase beebe(5"7 & 67" reach) except i fight at 145.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Yes, i'm in the same position walking around at a fairly lean 148, not lifting or eating a lot, I wish there was a 140 division. If you can convince a promoter to get a catch weight fight at 140, it would be ideal.
My goal for my ammy fight at 135, which is same day weigh ins, is to diet to 142 two weeks before. Then 2 lbs each last week. And the final 2lbs of water at the weigh-ins the 3-8 hrs before the fight. I don't want to be weak or miserable by any means.

IV saline therapy is an effective, and speedy way to replenish...
just don't think there is as much action at 135...
lift some weights..

Seriously, the water weight cut of 8-10lbs is all done about 16hours before weigh in. You literally dehydrate your body of water.
I've always cut weight every time i've competed in:
1. BJJ
2. Wreslting
3. Bodybuilding
I've worked with athletes in all those sports including MMA. It really depends on the tolerance of the athlete being able to handle the cut, handle the discipline leading up with their diet and their desire to do cardio while they are training for the competition.
Personally, after a certain point i was done with cutting weight. Nothing was worth it too me. I soon quit competing because my competitive weights were deal breakers for me and i lost my passion. Just consider doing most of the weight loss through diet and cardio.

It really depends...I walk around anywhere from 155 to 140 depending where I am in my training. I fight at 135, I made my debut at 155. I Had a fight for strikeforce (but the guy dropped out) and I cut 20 pounds in a month and about 7 the day of the weigh ins. I dont recomemed ever cutting that much in a month. So I`ve decided to never fight at that weight again and I`m only gonna fight at 135 or 145. Being at the lowest weight your body can take doesnt always mean thats the best for you. And dont compare your body structure to any one in the wecs, because theres alot of 145 and even 155`s that are that size 5'7 with your reach.
