Becoming an entity? (business question)

At what point as a fighter can you start to claim tax exemption on training/fighting costs? For example, writing off gym travel, fight travel, gym expense, etc.? I am nowhere near there but I am just wondering because I am sure that guys who are up there but not completely superstars have found away to do this (I would think). In short, did Tito pay full taxes on Big Bear?

I'm in no way qualified to answer this question but I think in Missouri you have to register with the state to fight Pro boxing or kickboxing and I would assume that you need to do that in most states. After that you can probably write off training, equipment, travel, maybe even food. I hope someone that actually knows the answer replys because I would love to write off all the training I pay for

There is an important distinction between business income/loss and hobby income/loss. You could be a registered pro fighter and still not be able to deduct all your training and travel expenses.

Obviously, Tito is a fighter and doesn't work 25 hrs/wk at In and Out to pay the rent, so no (kind of) on Big Bear.

How do you know when you reach that point. I know that all of your income is based on taxes and all that shit. But if you file and LLC and put all of your income through that and pay yourself couldnt you right off all training related expenses as business expenses?
