Bas, Enson, Gary Goodridge and all other fighters who'd like to air their views.

Hi,

I'm writing an article for a publication called the 3rd Degree (http://3degree.cci.ecu.edu.au) on the banning of MMA in my home state of Western Australia, Australia, on the grounds that it is too violent.

I'd just like to hear (or read) your views on such a banning and why is it not justified.

Thanks heaps,

Bruno.

good luck with getting mma legalized. i hope there would be no problems but you never know with politics, and stupit rules. I'm not a writer but i'll see what i can do.

just make some points/facts clear.

is mma violent? Yes
is it the most violent spectator sport? No.

soccer crowds get way more violent than anything in any sport(i don't know about that in australia but i've seen some pretty brutal things). maybe they should ban soccer

the highest death rate sports are things that involve lots of height like mountain climbing, skydiving, etc. not mma.

Health wise:
sports like hockey, football, rugby, boxing, etc have a way higher death rate than mma. ppl die yearly in each of these sports, mma's had about 1 death in 10 years which was a complete fluke. Sure there are some serious concussions and body damage occassionally, but that's the same with all the above sports, and often more. I would go to say that most fighters are way healthier than the average person or athlete of different sport, even after fighting for a long time.

fighters like me(amateaur) like to fight for fun, and please the crowd. The fans like it, and the fighters like it.
the promotors might make some money but you can say the same about all pro sports, and some amateaurs. If you are one of those people who don't like it, don't watch it.
