Any fighters want to help get MMA into the olympics?
This is to all fighters, whether pro, am or semi-pro or whatever.
I'm going to make a real concentrated effort to get MMA into the olympics, I know it won't be easy, but I think it's worth giving it a go.
If you want to help, even if it's just by putting your name on a petition or something, please post in the thread.
Thanks.

Why are you so against MMA in the olympics?
Does no one else get that if MMA's accepted as an olympic sport we don't have to suffer through any more media smear pieces calling a blood sport and human cockfight?

Why don't you go ahead and look up the requirements needed to be even considered by the IOC to become an olympic sport. It would save you a lot of time.

They still use amateur rules in boxing and you think they will allow MMA rules and equipment into the Olympics? Your best bet would be trying to get Sambo in but that's been around awhile and I doubt you would be the first to have tried

They also would have to modify the rules. Fighters would be breaking down trying to have full fights almost every day.

First of all that's a bunch of horseshit that because it's not Pros, it's not "the best." And it's evident you don't follow Olympic Boxing. It only became "lame" when the rule structures changed. Olympic Boxing all the way to the early 90's was right on-par with Professional Boxing. That's how numerous Fighters made their name before becoming Professionals, because they were kicking the crap out of people on the World Amateur Circuit. That still happens, only it's mostly Cubans and Eastern Europeans (sometimes Africans) who wreck people, and not so much Americans.
Also the thing about it being only Amateurs has been broken so many times it's ridiculous. How do you think the Dream Team initially got to play Olympic basketball?

The amateur rule in the olympics has been axed 30 years ago. the vast majority of athletes in the olympics receives money for their sport, a lot of them are full professionals depending on their sport and level. This even including Boxing, yes there are professional amateur boxers! Amateur boxing is huge in Germany and the fighters get paid on almost every level of competition, at higher levels you can compare the amount of money made to professional mma-ers in the US. In eastern Europe you can even become pretty wealthy if you box for the national team for some time. Same thing goes for wrestling, judo and lots of other sports.
