Sherdog User Rules


Any pro fighters decent enough to take the time out to post here and answer questions deserve to be treated with respect in return.

1. Believe it or not the fighters don't live here, allow them time to respond and have some patience. Excessively "ttt-ing" ("to the top") of a thread will result in yellow carding. It's fine to bring it up if it falls to the second page, but it doesn't need bumped every hour. You will be carded.

2. This is a forum meant for legitimate discussion, it's not the Off-Topic forum, so it's not "anything goes". Any posts the moderators deem to be ridiculous or trolling will result in your being double yellow carded and blocked, or banned.

3. Criticism is fine, flaming isn't, please watch the wording and be respectful. Any fighter bashing in this forum will result in an immediate ban.

4. No bickering/thread hijacking between forum members, take it to off-topic and leave the thread clear for the pro fighters to respond to.

The list of fighters active on Sherdog has been updated. Amateur Fighters have now also been listed to be included in the mix. Sherdog staff aims to bring this forum back to life a bit, and hopefully bring back some of the credibility, and good-spirited interactions between both working and up-and-coming fighters, and fans of the respective Fight Sports.

The idea is to get you the fans used to some newer names and faces, to keep this Forum from continuing to be directed towards mainly 2 or 3 elite Professional Fighters who rarely, if ever...get the chance to post here. All those who compete are welcome to address questions asked in this Forum, as this is the specific area for Fighters to be addressed as such.

We understand that you as fans have come to be familiar with certain names and faces, but we're asking that this Forum not be dismissive of Pro's or Amateurs you may not yet recognize, who knows? You might find another reason to love the Sport in being able to interact with Fighters who may be just beginning their careers. Sherdog is here to support all Fighters, and would like this Forum particularly to grow to reflect that notion.

Alright fellas, since this seems to be a question we're getting a lot with higher traffic on the board, we'll go ahead and just add the information to this thread.

This is what Moderators need to give you your Fighter Tag:

- Your REAL name.
- The name of the event you last fought at.
- The name of your last opponent.

(You can give extra information, like links to your record or fights online.)

And for you Promoters:

- Your REAL name.
- The name of the Company you Promote for.
- The last event you worked on.

I'm the Primary Moderator who deals with Tags, but the way I do it is every couple of weeks or so I submit whatever requests I have in my PM Box, so patience is necessary or you can try PM'ing the information to another Moderator.

Now, with regards to using your real name. Your username WILL be changed from whatever it is to either your real name or whatever name you fight as. Yes some people don't have their real names and have tags, that's because they've been around since before it was decided that all Fighters must use their real names or Fighting names. The reason is simple, integrity. If you want anonymity or free reign to be a cut-up here on Sherdog, then don't ask for a Fighter Tag with which to draw attention to yourself. Fighters are held to a bit of a higher standard typically (there ARE exceptions, like Tank Abbot, yes), and thus, if you want the prestige of being able to advertise yourself as a Fighter here on Sherdog, then you have to be your recognizable self.

We have worked hard to make Sherdog more of a possible Networking tool for Fighters where a Fighter can get not only a built-in fanbase, but Sponsored, and perhaps work for one of the Promoters here.

Footnote:

Please do NOT request the Amateur or Pro Fighter Tag only to ask us to revert you back to your anonymous self at some later date. If Fighting is not what you want to do, don't bother getting the Tag. If Fighting is something you love to do, and will contribute to in some sense even if you're not active as a Fighter, then keep the tag.

Administration is busy enough without having to go back and re-change usernames because of inactivity or whatever other BS makes a guy not want to consider himself a Fighter. Even if you're inactive, the Tag is an honorary Title, especially if you're not quitting, only biding time to continue with your tentative career at a later date.

From this point on there will be no more "please change me back to a regular mook" requests. And if the reason is to resume an anonymous screenname and act the fool and you start a gimmick account since there's no switch-backs, your gimmick account will be banned like any other.
