Training in Japan (SHOOTO/Pancrase)
I've got a couple of questions regarding training at pancrase or Shooto's offical gyms.
I've got a friend that is a great pro-fighter but he wants to go to Japan for training and competing. He's got plenty of fights around Europe so he wants to step up his game.
Im wondering which organisation has a pro grym and where to go for most chances to get fights.
any help would be appriciated....

LHW is uncommon in Japan, so he'd be better off training in the states, Brazil or Canada at that size. Here http://www.subfighter.com/ftopict-41503.html is a thread similar to yours though. Good luck.

It's a big country, there are many gyms in Tokyo, some in Osaka. The Shooto and Pancrease websites have lists of gyms. Tokyo itself if a very large sprawling city, and the rent and transportation costs are quite high. I'm not trying to be a dick, just saying your friend knows his situation the best, and asking "where in a country is a gym that will get you fights?" is a bit broad.
And ya, LHW is very difficult to find someone to train with and to fight against. Even at 83kg I only had one or two training partners my size in a gym of about 50 regular members. LHW you would be lucky to find 1 person in 100 that size.
To give you an idea of costs, living in a shared accommodation in Tokyo is a minimum $400 for a shared room with 6-12 people. $600 for a private room about the size of a small bathroom, with shared toilet and kitchen. Usually you need to pay one-months deposit plus the first month rent just to get into a share house.
For private accommodation expect to pay minimum $3000 just to get in the door (first month rent, fees, deposit). Then you would have to buy an AC, stove, fridge, etc. So you're looking at $4000 just to walk in the door of an apartment.
Gym fees too, are about $200-$300 for the initial entrance fee and first 2 months upfront.
In his first month in Japan he can expect to pay $5000 to live in a budget accommodation which will likely be far from the gym, gym fees, and expect to spend an hour on the train (one way) to the gym for the first month until you find an apartment near to the gym. Then you'd have to move again...
It's tough and expensive to train in Japan. Especially for bigger guys.

It is true that it's difficult to live in Japan. Tokyo especially is really expensive, but is probably the best city in the world for MMA training, as there's a place around every corner.
If you have a BA, you can line up a teaching job for English and a few other 'popular' languages such as French, German and Chinese. They will often cover the costs of your airfare and help you with housing as well.
Good luck to your 'friend'. Make sure to learn a bit of the language before making the jump over here.

yeah my friend is aware of most of theese things. I know other people that has been in tokyo training (at deep) and it worked out well but they (deep) have mostly smaller guys.
Thats why he asked me too look things up.
by taking up the fact that he wants fight Im mean Im looking for gyms such as the Deep Gym which is directly affliated with DEEP promotions and training there gives you oppertunitys to fight in a DEEP event.
Since Shooto and Pancrase holds more fights in the LHW division I thought they might have their own gyms where my friends can train.
thanks for all the help Oyaji, Im gonna forward your information to my friend. I was guessing it might be like that and that it would be hard for my friend since he's s big.
If anyone remembers or knows of any gyms for bigger guys then holla at a thug...
