Had something similar to this happen to me. I was going 75 on the freeway not on the "fast lane" but on one lane to the right of it. Then this guy whose prolly doing 80 starts coming in my rearview pretty fast, I was gonna switch to the right which was free, but I waited cuz i figured this guy would probably switch first then go in front of me since, but no he proceeds to tailgate me for probably 5-10 more minutes. Later he finally just changed lanes and moved in front of me. Hate drivers like that who think they own the road.

That's another reason I didn't move over. I didn't know when this guy was gonna do that shit where they speed up to get in the other lane, almost clipping the bumper.
If I decide to get over when this asshole does that shit, there's gonna be fatalities.

I hate when mother fuckers speed up behind you, look like they're gonna hit you, then suddenly switch lanes 1 nanometer from your bumper. It's shit like that that makes me NOT move, so we don't have some epic disaster.

It is not similar, what that guy did was being an ass. You were not hanging out in the left lane, you were in the center.

I know how you feel. I absolutely HATE people riding my ass and I hate bad drivers in general. With the road being empty at 4 am, you'd think he could have just gone around you and been on his merry way, but no, the asshole insists that you move over for him.

But by not moving out of his way, it's not like you're teaching him a lesson or anything like that. All you're doing is pissing him off even more which just makes him even more dangerous.

I used to get really pissed off about these things, but thankfully, they don't bother me as much as they used to. It hasn't been an overnight change of attitude though.

There are always going to be assholes on the road, and they eventually pay the price with tickets, accidents, and going through life with a pushy, entitled attitude (which doesn't really lead to much happiness). So why not try to adjust your reaction? You're not going to change people like this by pissing them off, and in the process, you're becoming enraged. It's possible, but it's not an overnight process.

My dad used to get pissed off with people passing him on the country roads (i.e. speed limit is about 90 km/h, one lane in each direction), as if their passing him was some sort of personal attack on him. It's a shitty mindset to have.

Sure dude. YOu are right. Tell that to a cop and see what he says about whether tyou should pass on the right. However laws change from state to state. But not matter what, you are right all the time.

The other guy was being the asshole and it was his fault but you should not have been in the left lane.

If there is no one else on the road there is no reason to be in the left lane at all, stay in the right lane until you come up behind someone and then pass them on the left.

Well I can only assume he does this because people submit and do what he wants them to do. If people like me continue not to get bullied, then eventually the bullying will stop. People will eventually stop doing things that continue to be unsuccessful.

But yeah you're right about everything else.
