Imagine waking up from a coma to realize that you are paralyzed..... from head to toe and only have use of one eye. This movie places you in the body of former chief editor of ELLE magazine Jean-Dominique Bauby. Suffering from a rare "locked-in" syndrome, the only form of communication is from blinking the eye to the alphabet. Based on a true story, this film has a unique take on cinematography. For the first 20 minutes, everything is shot from the eye while hearing Jean-Dominique talking to himself unable to actually speak. It's really a trip and the supporting cast that help establish the communication system which leads to the publication of his book is extraordinary. With a great musical score that compliments the movie, you'll be feeling up-lifted at the end of this one. I thought the movie did an awesome job placing you in the mind of the main character, who sometimes gets down on himself while other times finds humor in even the most bleak of situations.

- Screenplay (Nominated at the Oscars)

Cons:
- Foreign Film (Some people just don't like foreign films *I do though /shrug*)
- A little bit "Artsy"
- No action (If you want action, skip this one)

Nah it's not just that.
It's one of those self-struggle movies, except in this case based off a true story (the book was actually published 7 days before his death).
The movie will go over his life before the stroke, what he missed etc. and just shows the struggles he faced living. Communicate speak is only a minor way in which dialogue is initiated in the movie. What I liked, is hearing his thoughts while people would interact with him.
What's so great about this movie, is that unlike most movies you will watch and forget about. This will probably be stuck in your head, and make you think about things. That people really take things for granted, having kids and a wife. Not being able to hold them or speak to them.
It's some deep shit.

I think the whole camera looking out of his one eye for 20 min would just piss me off to much for me to finish it
I watched this with my bro, and he said the same thing after a couple minutes. Then it began to grow on him, like I said hearing him think to himself while in that point of view is really cool. Also there is a scene where they sew one of his eyes shut and this is all from the inside (it's really something.)

Okay, the movie is about some rich magazine editor who drives a sports car, has a stroke and is now paralyzed, and he tells his life story...."Yeah, I got rich, and took pictures for lame nouvelle magazine, but I had a stroke, so it looks like the ride is over, now I gotta communicate by blinking, and think to myself alot..."

Again there is a mountain of movies that make you "think about things" and make you realize you take things for granted. If anything, this movie is just another "I had everything, and it was taken away..." movie.

You already seem against this movie but it's cool. As far as this being just another "I had everything and it was taken away" movie, then sure you are correct if you want to generalize things.
However the way the film is shot, the great cast, and screenplay sets it apart (at least in my mind) from these types of movies. I can respect your opinion though, however I recommend you at least watch it before judging it (in case you haven't watched it.)
