I worked night shift for two years, and you never get used to it it. Some people I worked with would get off of work on the weekend, stay up all day, sleep that night, and then stay up all day and go to work. I do not recommend this at all. On your days off keep the same schedule of sleep. Not only is it better for you, but you will after about two weeks get into that cycle. Go get any thing you can to put over your windows, to make your bedroom like a cave. You also have to worry about neighbors making all kind of racket, so you might need some earplugs (I never could sleep with them in).
Getting bored is the biggest problem.
I passed the time by working out, played A LOT of video games, and wasted time at 24 hour stores in town. I also had friends though that worked the same shift and could hang out with them, but like I said they would stay up on their off days, and I could not.
No matter how you do it, night shift is bad for your body, and you miss out on a lot of stuff everyone else is doing.
Oh, Melatonin is your best friend on night shift.
