However the way the film is shot, the great cast, and screenplay sets it apart (at least in my mind) from these types of movies. I can respect your opinion though, however I recommend you at least watch it before judging it (in case you haven't watched it.)
Okay, I'll watch it...if I can find it at the local hollywood video, or on NetFlix.

It's probably because you listed....

8/10

Pros:

- Musical Score
- Unique camera angles
- Supporting Cast (beautiful french women)
- Screenplay (Nominated at the Oscars)
- Imagery
8/10, that's pretty high. Musical score is pretty much subjective, I didn't like the emo music in lost in translation, but I liked the music from Fight Club. Camera angles, those are cool, imagery is nice. I hope it has more than French women. Oscar nominations don't really mean much to me.

You should be able to find it at Hollywood video (if that's the equivalent of Blockbuster).

I am usually fairly harsh on rating movies, only a handful I will give a 9/10 so the 8/10 is more than well deserved. I know IMDB is not a great indicator, but it does have an 8.2/10 there if that means anything to ya.

As far as musical score, it's not whether I liked the particular music being played but more on if it fits the mood of a scene. I think that's why some movies are so successful, Fight Club as you mentioned leaves an imprint on you at the end when The Pixies - Where is my Mind? is playing while the buildings begin exploding. Or when the epic fire fight with 'El Duce' in Boondock Saints occurs and instead of the typical gun shot sound effects, music is playing.

The french women bit on the supporting cast is merely a joke for the OT crowd, heh albeit true. Oscar nominations don't mean much to me either, some movies are extremely over-rated because of this. However it is usually an indicator on the level of quality in the movie (You're not going to see a B movie.) Beautiful Mind or Babel for example, definately not my cup of tea.

Hope you enjoy it.
