The Great Beyond: ‘At least 12% of US biology teachers are creationist’

A worrying number of American teachers appear to be pushing creationism and intelligent design on high school biology students.

“Three different survey questions all suggest that between 12% and 16% of the nation’s biology teachers are creationist in orientation,” write study author Michael Berkman and colleagues in PLOS Biology. “Roughly one sixth of all teachers professed a ‘young earth’ personal belief, and about one in eight reported that they teach creationism or intelligent design in a positive light.”

Evangelicals are scary, I really hope in generations down the line, fundamentalist will become obsolete and not so rich and powerful I dont understand why they cant look at it like this. God gave us this wonderful brain to use maybe gods big plan was for his creations, us humans to solve the mystery that is life. Why do these people feel they have to teach ancient way to explain things to a not so ancient culture taking steps backwards is just so dumb to me, why do people feel they are betraying god by accepting modern science, the intelligence and discoveries by are fellow humans should be praised not frowned upon. It just makes me sad that so much of the world is still so far behind where they could be, maybe one day people will wise up its just a shame none of us will ever get to see it in out life time.

Anyways if you wanna see a interesting documentary on evangelicals and there way of life I highly recommend this doc.

Public school teachers or public and private school teachers? Because a lot of private schools are Christian and teach creationism. That could be throwing off the numbers.

Creationists teaching biology in school is like an English teacher making up his own words and grammar and teaching it to the kids.
