PM me what it is. I give you my word I wont steal it. First thing you need to learn is youre going to have to tell a lot of people your idea before you get true protection, and just have faith.

First thing is to send yourself a letter, outlining the idea, and do not open it, then call patent office monday and find out where to send them one. It is like 25 bucks or something, but it will protect you.

It is not about date of patent, but proving date of actual invention. keyword is proving.

PM me the idea and you are golden. really, you would be 100% protected.

you do need to send yourself a letter like FredSavage said- but it needs to be registered mail- so you have to go to teh post office then sign for it- Describe your invention in detail- do drawings etc as much detail as possible. diont open the letter. The letter is proof taht you had teh idea at a certain date- if anyone steals it and produces it at a later date - you have some reasonable proof that it is your intellectual property.
