I laugh at all the people clinging to Del Toro's nuts.

Del Toro is a great director. Directing the Hobit next.

IMDB is a great indicator for older movies but it seems lately new movies are getting rediculous ratings.
Iron Man is at like 8.4 last I checked.
Are you fucking kidding me? Sure it was probably one of the better superhero-esque movies and was good action and plot etc. but 8.4? haha.

Great director based on one movie?
I'll wait for him to direct a couple more before I jump on his bandwagon.

Meh I see your point. I still think he's a great director though. You've got to look at what he had to work w/ before. When you're trying to make it you take what you can get. He did a great job w/ what he was working w/ in his previous movies. Granted Mimic wasn't a great movie, but as a director you work w/ what you've got. If you look at the directing flair it was very good. His touch is in his visual style. As a director he can only do so much w/ the acting, story elements, and other things. When it comes to what he's done visually it's a different story. He championed in Pan's Labyrinth because he had a great cast, ******, and crew to work w/. Given all that GTD was able to use his visual style to create a masterpiece surrounded by a great group of talent backing him. That's where his greatness as a director was truly able to be seen. In Blade II he wasn't exactly backed up by the greatest talent, or team in the world, but he did what he could, and the directing elements were top notch.

I agree. He has done alot with what he had....he has made some great horror films in Mexico that people are just starting to find out about. For an indy director he has done some great stuff.

Give Iron Man time to settle. It's still a victim of much hype and other things. You can't trust IMDB out of the gate, because of all the bull shit sfx lovers that will see anything w/ an actor they know and a good bit of sfx and explosions. IMDB is most reliable when a movie hits it's dvd release. At it's dvd release you can see what the better average has said. The thing about IMDB also is that YOU MUST VOTE. When people say IMDB is a shitty site that doesn't represent true views I say, "Fuck you!" if 18,000 people voted on it than you're the one that's full of shit. I vote there. I may not agree w/ it all, but I vote.

Yeah, IMDB is a blessing for me.
Before I bother downloading a movie I'll always IMDB it first to make sure I'm not wasting my time. Based on people's comments and voting, I've discovered some real hidden gems no one knows about.
I vote there too, in a way I'm the guy bringing ratings down lol.
Even my favourite movie gets a 9/10
Movie I REALLY liked gets 8/10
Movie that I enjoyed gets 7/10
Average movie 6/10
