Greatest Band Ever

Just got done watching a Meat Loaf special on VH1 and it reminded me that Meatloaf was the greatest performer of all time and Jim Steinman is the greatest song writer of all time.

He was an absolutely mesmerizing, wonderful presence. His pupils would roll up into his head, and you'd see the whites of his eyes, and his hands would clutch. It was really powerful. He was extraordinary. As a performer, when he's at his best, he ranks among the three or four greatest I've ever seen in my life.

* Jim Steinman, on being impressed by Meat Loaf's performances in More Than You Deserve (1974), as quoted in "The Bat out of Hell" in The Washington Post (26 January 26 1997)

I'm not even sure he knows who "Meat Loaf" is. He definitely would become the person in the song.

* Jim Steinman as quoted at his official website, JimSteinman.com.

Best lyrics and performances ever.

And all I can do
Is keep on telling you
I want you (I want you)
I need you (I need you)
But-there ain't no way I'm ever gonna love you
Now don't be sad (Don't be sad)
'Cause two out of three ain't bad
Now don't be sad (Cause)
'Cause two out of three ain't bad

I couldn't take it any longer
Lord I was crazed
And when the feeling came upon me
Like a tidal wave
I started swearing to my god and on my mother's grave
That I would love you to the end of time
I swore that I would love you to the end of time!

So now I'm praying for the end of time
To hurry up and arrive
'Cause if I gotta spend another minute with you
I don't think that I can really survive
I'll never break my promise or forget my vow

I would agree.

I should have mentioned him. My bad.

jack black is kind of a meatloaf imitator. he was a major influence anyway and many of their antics and expressions/gestures are the same.

Oh how I hate to bring up all those big bands from the 70's but to me its either Led Zeppline or Pink Floyd. Give em a try if you havent already.

One of the greatest lines ever:

"I would do ANYTHING for love, but I won't do THAT"...........???

Yes, I get the point of the contradiction...
