dane cook is just one of those dudes who through a certain combination of having a stupid face, stupid fucking hair, being ridiculously annoying and having a way over inflated sense of self worth makes you want to just punch him in the face. with a spiked bat. at least 15 times.

The only thing I've liked of Dane Cook's was his first Comedy Central Special (the first time I saw it, never after) and one of the Roasts where he describes watching someone get hit by a car.

I liked Cook, and had bought his Retaliation CD (but that was mostly because I was high and walking through the mall. I had also bought a skull topped pimp cane that day.)

But, I found out he lifts material, especially from Louis C.K., and then I watched his show without weed enhancements and I didn't find it as funny.

Btw, Louis C.K. is one of the funniest fuckers ever. When he talks about beating the shit out of his 4 year old daughter, I almost fucking shit my pants.

Dane Cook's on the tail end of his 15 minutes of fame. Nobody cool listens to Cook anymore. He can have the all white bible thumping college kid crowd, no one else wants them.

Dane did serve a purpose...that comics need to use the internet to rally their fans and he showed young comics what needs to be done in terms of self promotion. Hopefully someone actually funny can pick up on this and run with it. Doing Sitcoms shouldn't be the only way for a standup to make it big.

He has incredible energy, he's really enthusiastic, and he does observational comedy. People love observational stuff to just be told exactly how they, themselves, act because they don't pay enough attention to their surroundings. Add very high energy and enthusiasm and obviously a ton of people are gonna eat that shit up. Plus he has great delivery, even if his jokes aren't that good.
