I just think it's one of the most overrated blips in the history of television. If it were any good, it would still be going on. Critics latched on to it and tried to make people love it. It found a niche audience, and then it died.
If you like it, that's fine. Personally, I REALLY liked Sports Night. But I'm not going to tell anybody that it deserves a movie or is one of the greatest shows ever.
If the movie comes off, hopefully everyone involved with it loses a ton just to teach them a lesson.

I see where youre coming from.
I don't think Arrested Development really had a chance to be honest. The show relies too much on past episodes and linking events to create humor. If you didn't get into the show somewhat early you really weren't going to enjoy it when you tried to. This led to the less than stellar ratings. I don't know if you have ever actually tried to watch the show, but if you get the first season DVD and go from start to finish I would guess you'll probably like the it. I don't know anyone who really enjoyed the show while it was on the air, but everyone I know got into the show once it was out on DVD. This movie isn't getting made because it was such a hit TV show, but because the DVD sales and rentals were impressive as well as a lot of fans . The Arrested Development movie seems to me to be a lot like Family Guy getting back on the air.

same can be said for "curb your enthusiasm" I love the show but some people don't get the characters or the jokes because so much relies on past episodes. Shit some of it goes back to previous seasons.

Sports Night - 45 episodes.
So you're telling me that a show that is one of the shortest running "successful" "comedies" in television history deserves it's own movie?
Well, then line up the Just the Ten of Us and Sports Night feature length films then.

Wow, just when you think you have seen it all on the interwebz, you now get the first "Punky Brewster>Arrested Development in quality" comment. I now officially have seen it all, thanks!!

According to Jim has been on for what, 7 years now? So therefore according to this logic, that show must be one of the funniest of the last 2 decades and Jim Belushi, of "Red Heat" fame, is headed to the Comedy Hall of Fame, right? Also according to this logic, Firefly must have sucked ass as well, since that only made it a year. Shit, Star Trek only made it what, 2 years?

Unless your part of the Des Moines IA "I dont get it, turn on Home Improvement reruns, that Tim Allen is funny!!" crowd, in whch case you hate it. Or you think Punky Brewster owned it.
