Anyone ever been to detox?
I just got back yesterday. I'd always been a heavy drinker, but a few months ago I decided to go balls-to-the-wall to the tune of a 1.75er of vodka every one or two days. I'd literally be drinking from rise to rest. It got to the point where I forgot that wasn't normal, I'd even go to the gym with an illegal BAC. But shit started getting expensive; around $600/month expensive.
So last Thursday I decided I'd take a week off. I woke up at 10, by 10:10 I looked like Stephen Hawking after being double drop kicked out of his rascal. I was withering on the floor vomiting all over myself. My gf started flipping out and I was screaming at her to get me some vodka. She said only of I agree to go to the ER and I was like fine just get the fucking vodka. So I chug the vodka like Daniel Day Lewis in There Will Be Blood.
Of course the detox wing is located in the hospital's psych ward, so there were some pretty quality fuckups wandering around in their gay hospital-issued socks. They loaded me up with Valium and tranquilizers and took me to my room where I spent the rest of the day. The next day, Friday, I'm still a little shaky but I'm fine if I have the Valium so I think I'm ready to go, but no, they want to keep me for observation. OK, as long as I get out by Saturday in time for Affliction Banned. Nope. Cut to Tuesday and still no mention of me being released anytime soon despite my persistent asking. I demanded to talk to the detox doctor, and apparently the detox caused my blood pressure to spike, and I was at near stroke levels. I told him I didn't care I just wanted to GTFO, so he got all butthurt and was like "well I'll get one of the internal medicine doctors from upstairs to give you his professional opinion and then you'll have two doctors advising you not to checkout." The internal medicine doctor wrote me a blood pressure prescription and sent me on my way. On my way out I told the assistant male nurse who kept popping into my room for no reason at all that he was a homo.
