Beat me to it. I'm actually suprised at how many major european gangs are actually current or derivatives of football gangs.

Don't take Green Street/Football Factory seriously, football hooliganism is dead in England, it was rife in the late 70's, 80's and 90's, but now the police have all but killed it... of course there are some minor scuffles at train stations with rival fans, but the major fights with 100's of people fighting doesn't happen

Actually, no it would not. You see over here in America we have these groups of young men who like to get togetgher, wear the same colors, and bash or kill each other, and they dont even watch soccer. All the "firms" are are gangs, and the team merely serves as a guidebook for which colors to wear.

You are telling me, that if you guys did not have football at all that those hooligans would just be sitting home pruning their garden? No, they would still be a gang, they would still bash on other gangs. It happens all over the world without football.

You're wrong, and here's why.

Football firms fight each other in accordance with the team they are playing that weekend. If they didn't have football, then there is no common purpose for them to get together, travel up to a certain place and fight the other firm. At least, this is how it's like in England, in other places like Russia, Brazil and Eastern European countries etc it's probably different as the gangs aren't solely based on being a football firm.

But if football didn't exist, I can assure you, the guys wouldn't go around the country looking for other firms to fight, because it would be pointless

Yeah. After getting beaten up by hooligans in europe, I quit football and decided to train MMA since I loved the feeling of getting beaten up.

I am kinda proud if supporting a team with very little hooligan culture associated with them(Arsenal)

The stupid ones destroy it for the rest of us, not to mention all the pain and tragedy like Heyesel and riots in general

All the security measures has kileld of the atmopshere in many places aswell,
