This is a smart move by Mitch. He could keep Ariza for some overpaid contract and whilst I can def see him being the number 1 option after Kobe retires, whos he gonna play with, Baby Bynums lazy ass? Farmar? SHannon Brown could be a good starter but wont be an allstar. Hes traded away our potential future for an all but garunteed dynasty now. Its no good keeping Ariza hoping that hell blossom, because when he doesKobe will be near retiring, Pau will be on the downslide and Odom will be even more inconsistant. Whereas RonRon brings us the bacon now, taking advantage of Kobe, Pau and Odoms skills during their peaks, Fish's leadership whilst he can still strap up, and still have Bynum, Farmar and Brown to try and mold into something useful for the next decade.

This is a great win now move. The Lakers biggest weaknesses are they cant defend quick guards and their front line is soft. No one is going to push their front line around with Ron on it.
Spacing the floor in crunch time is going to be an issue though. Pau, Ron, Lamar, Kobe, and Farmar (please). Who among them scares you from behind the arc?

Ariza will never be the no. 1 scorer on any kind of contending team. Its just not the kind of player he is or personality he has

He has been #23, 15, 91, 93 and 96. 8 is a good guess, but he might take Dennis Rodman's old #73.

Damn this isn't even fair. Lebron bout to take another L this season. The Cavs were going after Trevor Ariza (sp) but he going to the Rockets. Oh well, I'm still going to a couple of Cavs games to see the Big Freeze
